Devils to Stream Simulated Game

Tonight, in a different universe, the Calgary Flames were coming to Newark for a tilt with the Devils at Prudential Center.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this game has been canceled.

Enter EA Sports’ video game, NHL 20.

The Devils will be streaming a simulated version of their game against the Flames tonight on Twitter, Facebook, NJD.TV and YouTube.

According to a message from the team, “fans are encouraged to watch and engage on social media. The Devils will be live-tweeting the game and posting highlights from the simulated video game.”

Virtual puck drop is at 7 PM ET.

If simulated hockey is not your thing but you still need your Devils fix, MSG+ will be showing the Devils game at Vancouver from earlier this season on “New Jersey Devils Classics.”

Like all team’s “classics” series, the Devils won this game. It was a 2-1 victory that saw “Wayne Simmonds and Jesper Bratt score within 22 seconds” of each other according to an email from the Devils on the subject. That broadcast also begins at 7 PM eastern on MSG+.

So, there you go. There will be a form of Devils hockey available to us. Whether you like already knowing what is going to happen in a real game or be surprised by a simulated game, here’s to getting to see the Devils in some capacity tonight.
