At Least Seven Devils to Play in World Championship

The 2021 IIHF World Championship will take place in Riga, Latvia from May 21 to June 6, 2021

According to Sam Kasan of the official Devils’ blog, at least seven New Jersey Devils will be participating.

Those players include: Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler of Switzerland, Yegor Sharangovich suiting up for Belarus, Marian Studenic for Slovak Republic, Kevin Bahl for Canada, Matt Tennyson for the United States and prospect Matthew Hellickson of the USA as well.

Kasan ran down who will not be playing: defensemen Ty Smith (Canada) – shoulder and Damon Severson (Canada) – toe, forward Pavel Zacha (Czech Republic) – lower body, and goalie Mackenzie Blackwood (Canada) – back.

Kasan reports that forward Jesper Bratt (Sweden) has not yet decided if he will play in the tournament. He, like Severson, is suffering from a toe injury.
