A-Devils Reveal 2016-17 Schedule

The Albany Devils have posted their 2016-17 schedule here.

Some games to look out for if you are a Devils fan in the New York state capital region, or a New Jersey fan planning a trip up to see the Devils of tomorrow are:

Albany starts on the road on October 14 at the Providence Bruins and then returns home the following night to take on the St. John’s IceCaps.

The A-Devils see the Utica Comets, the team they eliminated in the first round of last year’s Calder Cup playoffs for the first time next season on Saturday, October 22 at home at the Times Union Center. They face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Penguins, former home of New Jersey head coach John Hynes on Wednesday, October 26 at the Pens.

The team has their first rematches with the Toronto Marlies, the team that eliminated them from the Calder Cup playoffs last season, on the weekend of October 28 and 29 in Albany.

November sees another home date with Toronto on Wednesday the 23rd. The team will also travel to Hartford, home of the Rangers’ AHL affiliate for the first time on Friday, November 25.

December kicks off with a home-and-home with nearby Utica on December 2 (at Albany) and December 3 (at Utica). They see Utica again in a mid-month roadtrip that takes them there and to Toronto for a pair at the Ricoh Coliseum on December 17 and 18. They see Toronto at home again on December 30 and then finish the month – and the year – on New Year’s Eve at the Wolf Pack in Hartford.

January sees a New Year’s Day game at home against the Islanders’ affiliate the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. On January 7, the A-Devils travel out to Lehigh Valley to take on the Flyers’ affiliate, the Phantoms. The team sees the new Springfield Thunderbirds (the former Portland Pirates) for the first time in a home-and-home on January 11 and 13. The 11th will be played in Springfield, Massachusetts, while the game on the 13th will be in Albany. A late month road trip sees them travel to St. John’s to take on the IceCaps on the weekend of January 21 and 22 and then travel to Rochester to take on the Americans on the 27th. They finish the month at home against Rochester on the 28th.

In February, they take on the Phantoms at home for the first time on the 3rd. Another mid-month road trip takes them on a similar journey as the one at the end of January: they start with a game at the Americans on the 10th and then travel back to Toronto to take on the Marlies on the 11th and 12th. They finish the month back in St. John’s to take on the IceCaps on the 24th and 25th.

March is a road-heavy month for the A-Devils. They start at Providence on the 3rd, travel to Utica on the 4th, move on to Binghamton on the 10th and finish the trip at Bridgeport on the 11th. They briefly return home to take on the Thunderbirds on the 17th before hitting the road again at Syracuse on the 18th and Springfield on the 19th.

As much as the A-Devils were road warriors in March, they will be in for some home cooking in April. The final stretch before the Calder Cup playoffs will see them play only two road games that month: April 8 at Syracuse and April 14 at Rochester. The regular season comes to an end on the home half of a home-and-home, back-to-back against the Rochester Americans at the Times Union Center.
