Devils Release Statement on Coronavirus Safety Protocols

The Devils today released a statement regarding safety protocols to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The statement, which can be read in its entirety on the Devils’ official website, says that the team has been “working with medical experts and state and local officials” and has “established health and safety protocols, which [they] will update as necessary.” They did stress that “consistent with NHL guidelines, tonight’s Devils game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center will proceed as scheduled.”

The guidelines – if you are attending a game in the near future – are that the following people do not attend tonight’s game or future Devils games until further notice. These were set up “following the advice of public health officials and medical experts, and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They are:

  • Guests who are feeling sick, regardless of their symptoms
  • Guests who have traveled to, or been in close contact with someone who has traveled to, one of the high-risk areas as outlined by the CDC in the past 14 days, even if asymptomatic
  • Guests who have been in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days, even if asymptomatic
  • Guests who have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • Guests with underlying health conditions, in particular, respiratory or cardiac issues

They also point people towards the CDC’s website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention-treatment.html) so that people attending an event at Prudential Center can “review and follow the hygiene guidelines outlined by the CDC.

The Devils also ask that any fans with questions can call 1-800-NJ-DEVIL and choose prompt 1 for more information.

The Devils also point people to the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov), the World Health Organization website (https://www.who.int) and the New Jersey Department of Health website (http://www.nj.gov/heath/cd/topics/ncov.shtml) for more information.
