Colton White Re-Signed

The Devils locked up one of their restricted free agents for one more year. Colton White signed a one-year, two-way contract. The contract is worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $130,000 in the AHL.

The 24-year-old defenseman, who played his first NHL game on March 13, 2019 (against the Edmonton Oilers, as per the press release put out by the Devils), has played in 11 total games at the NHL level.

From 2017-18 to 2020-21, White had been with the Devils’ AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Devils. Over 190 total American League games, he has 11 goals and 47 assists totaling 58 points. The press release notes that, for the 2020-21 season, he was named an alternate captain for Binghamton.

The London, Ontario native was chosen 97th overall (the Devils’ fourth pick) in the 2015 Draft. He was selected out of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. With the Greyhounds, he racked up 93 points – 21 goals and 72 assists – over 256 OHL games. The press release notes that in juniors, he was also named an alternate captain for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

In addition, he “was an OHL All-Star in 2016-17.” He also played in 46 OHL playoff games where he had a goal and eight assists (nine points).
