Devils Loan Studenic to HC Slovan Bratislava

The Devils today announced via a press release that forward Marian Studenic has been loaned to the Slovak Extraliga’s HC Slovan Bratislava. He will be recalled prior to the beginning of the 2020-21 NHL training camp in November.

Studenic spent last year with the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League where he posted nine goals and eight assists (17 points) over 37 games according to the Devils’ press release on their “Inside the Devils Blog.” He was a fifth-round pick of the Devils in 2017, 143rd overall.

The press release said that Studenic “will be available to play with HC Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia for the immediate time being and ca come back when the 2020-21 NHL training camps commence.”

This move is just to get Studenic some “reps” as the Slovak Extraliga (as with most of the European leagues) begins play a lot sooner than the NHL. With so much time between the end of the AHL season, when it was canceled in March, to the beginning of the next NHL season, this is just a way to get him some playing time. He will be back in November and be able to make the NHL Devils squad.
