Devils Re-Up Studenic

In addition to the AJ Greer signing this morning, the Devils have also announced that they have re-signed forward Marian Studenic.

The 22-year-old signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $750.000 at the NHL level and $125,000 at the AHL level, similar to Greer’s contract.

Studenic played eight games with the New Jersey Devils last season, debuting on April 11.

The Skalica, Slovakia-native was the Devils’ seventh pick in 2017, 143rd overall. He played in the OHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs from 2016 to 2018 prior to turning professional, winning a Memorial Cup with The Bulldogs in 2018.

Since 2018, he played with the Binghamton Devils of the AHL – he is likely to play with the Utica Comets this season should he not make the NHL club out of camp.

With Binghamton, he has 25 goals and 27 assists totaling 52 points over 123 AHL games. He played internationally for Slovakia at the 2016 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2017 and 2018 U20 World Juniors. He played for Slovakia at the 2919 and 2021 World Championship, where he has a goal and five assists totaling six points over 15 games.

Information for this post came from the Devils’ PR team press release.

In other news on a busy day, I got an email todaty informing me that the 2021 Running with the Devils 5K and walk will be held on October 24 at the Reservoir at Essex County’s South Mountain Recreation Complex. The Wellness Walk will take place at Essex County’s Turtle Back Zoo.

That is the live part of the race. The virtual format will offer “additional options from October 1-24.”

Registration is now open at rwjbh.org/runningwiththedevils. This race serves as a fundraiser for RWJBarnabas Health’s hospitals around central and north Jersey. The email notes that all proceeds will support “heroic efforts of 35,000 Healthcare Heroes across New Jersey.”
