Devils Versus Lightning Postponed for Tomorrow

According to a post on the Devils’ official website (NewJerseyDevils.com) made at 2 PM today, the game tomorrow (Monday, January 10) at Prudential Center against the Tampa Bay Lightning has been postponed.

The NHL made the announcement prior.

A makeup date has not been announced yet.

The Devils now stand at six postponed games that will need to be made up. Those games include the December 19, 2021 road game at the Pittsburgh Penguins, the December 23 home game against the Montreal Canadiens, the December 28 road game versus the St. Louis Blues, the January 10, 2022 game against Tampa Bay, the January 15 at Montreal and the January 17 game at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

None of those games have makeup dates, but if I had to guess sometime in February during what was supposed to be the two-week Olympic break would be a good bet.

We will have more updates for you as they become available via the team and the league.

Edit (January 10, 2022, 12:39 AM): It would seem that at least part (if not all) of the reason for Monday’s game being postponed would be that the Devils have had two more players enter COVID protocols yesterday.

According to the Devils’ official Twitter account (@NJDevils), defenseman Damon Severson and forward Janne Kuokkanen were placed in protocols earlier today. The Devils tweeted the news at 1:39 PM on January 9.

Severson and Kuokkanen join Jesper Bratt, Yegor Sharangovich Dougie Hamilton and Pavel Zacha on the team’s COVID list.
