Schneider Activated Off IR, Elias and Others Practice

Cory Schneider has been activated off of injured reserve and will travel with the Devils to Florida this week. He is expected to start either on Thursday against the Panthers or Saturday against the Lightning according to the Devils’ website. It will be his first start since March 4.

He told the Devils’ website that “physically and mentally” he doesn’t “think there are any issues.” He basically said that it was an issue of getting his “timing and legs back.”

Although he did not seem sure if he will start against the Panthers on Thursday or the Lightning in Tampa on Saturday, it is definite that he will be back on the Devils’ trek down to Florida. No matter what, though, he is on his way back and rested and healthy.

In other news surrounding Devils practice, Patirk Elias, Tyler Kennedy, David Schlemko and Jacob Josefson all skated today. Elias will make the trip with the team down to Florida.

Getting Elias back would be a little bit of a bonus for the Devils, even though it is this late in the season. He is a veteran leader and can add some offensive punch. Having Elias in the lineup could help the Devils in the home stretch to make the playoffs if for nothing else other than his leadership. Even if he cannot contribute as much as he would like to he could still bring a lot to the table for the Devils.
