Shakir Mukhamadullin Signs ELC

Welcome to December! It’s a the most festive time of the year and the season brought an early gift for the Devils.

Today, the team announced that 2020 first-round pick (the second of three first-round picks in the 2020 Draft for New Jersey), the 20th overall pick, Shakir Mukhamadullin, has signed his three-year entry-level contract. This information comes courtesy of a press release put out by the Devils’ PR team.

The ELC will start with the 2021-22 season and Mukhamadullin, a defenseman, will be loaned back to Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League. He will stay with Ufa for the rest of the current season in the KHL.

The 19-year-old blue liner has already played in 34 games for Ufa this year. He currently has three goals and four assists for seven points in the KHL according to the press release.

He has played the last three seasons for Ufa and has played a total of 99 games for them since 2018-19. Over that time, he has six goals and 12 assists for 18 total points over his time there. He previously played for Salavat Yulaev’s under-18, under-17 and under-16 teams in the organization.

Mukhamadullin stands 6-feet, four-inches tall and weighs in at 195-pounds.

He was born in Ufa, Russia and has represented Russia internationally at the 2021 under-20 World Junior Championship and the 2019 under-18 World Junior Championship (where he was a member of the silver medal winning squad).

The press release notes that Mukhamadullin and Arseni Gritsyuk (the Devils’ fifth-round pick in the 2019 Draft) were teammates at the 2021 World Juniors.
