Prudential Center to Feature ’15 Seconds of Fame’ Technology

In a press release on the Devils website, the team announced that they will be featuring a new toy for fans to play with next season. The Devils and the Prudential Center have come to an agreement with 15 Seconds of Fame (15SOF) that will use the technology in-arena for the 2016-17 season.

The agreement will begin during the October 18 home opener against the Anaheim Ducks, but the team actually previewed it during last year’s season closing game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in April and fan reaction was positive, so they have decided to move forward with it.

Basically, what 15SOF is is an app that allows fans who appear on the jumbotron at Prudential Center to download that clip, and share it on various social media platforms. The app will be available on iTunes and Google Play. Fans will need to take a selfie in order to register for it.

The Devils will be the first team in the NHL to utilize this technology and it will also be available during select other sporting events at the arena.

It seems kind of frivolous, but I can see this being very popular, especially with young kids. Kids are usually featured on the video board and to allow them to have this “souvenir” of their moment on camera will be nice for them.
