Devils Will Retire Elias’ Number on February 24

Patrik Elias will take his place amongst the Devils elite when he has his jersey number 26 retired on February 24, 2018 before a game against the New York Islanders at Prudential Center.

Elias, the team’s all-time leading scorer in points, goals and assists, played his final game on April 9, 2016 against the Toronto Maple Leafs when he notched a goal and two assists in the Devils 5-1 win.

He was then honored last year with “Patty’s Last Lap,” a series of events for fans to say goodbye to the Devils legend last April. It culminated in his participation in the warmup before the April 8, 2017 game against the Islanders.

Elias will join Scott Stevens, Ken Daneyko, Scott Niedermayer and Martin Brodeur as Devils with their numbers hanging in the Prudential Center rafters.

Patrik Eilas Retirement Night is sure to be a great night for the Devils and their fans to say goodbye to a true legend and class act. That it will be coming against a divisional rival like the Isles should only ramp up the excitement.
